The Melanurus Wrasse, Halichoeres melanurus, also known as the Tail-Spot Wrasse and Hoeven’s Wrasse, is a species of wrasse in the western Pacific from Japan to Samoa and Tonga and south to the Great Barrier Reef. This species is found along rocky shores or on coral reefs at depths from 3.3 to 49.2 ft. It can reach 4.7 in in total length.

Its diet consists of flatworms, fireworms, tubeworms, shrimp, parasites, feather dusters.  Prepared food for this fish consists of feeder shrimps, flake food and other frozen foods.
